Hearing Aids
Modern hearing aids feature incredibly advanced technology in tiny yet durable shells. Every year, hearing aid manufacturers introduce innovative features that help people with a wider range of hearing challenges live a more fulfilling life. We'll help you choose the best hearing solutions for your needs. Because Sense of Hearing is independently owned, our Audiologists &/or Hearing Instrument Specialists recommend the right device for your lifestyle, hearing profile, and budget — not a manufacturer's sales target. Every fitting includes a comprehensive hearing assessment, personalized programming, and ongoing follow-up care to make sure you are hearing your best.

Hearing Aid Styles
Find the Right Style for You
We offer a full range of hearing aid styles to match your hearing needs, lifestyle, and personal preference.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Instruments
Most Versatile
BTE instruments have two parts — the hearing aid behind the ear and a custom ear mold that channels sound into the ear canal.
- Two parts — hearing aid and a custom ear mold
- Primarily suitable for most mid to high-frequency hearing losses, but also now available for many severe to profound losses
- Most appropriate for infant and child ears (while growing)
- Typically needed if direct audio input (DAI) is to be used (e.g. FM System)
Receiver-in-the-Canal (RIC)
Most Natural
RIC aids sit discreetly behind the ear with a thin wire delivering sound to a tiny receiver placed directly in the ear canal — for a natural, open listening experience.
- Sound is transmitted via a thin wire to a tiny receiver (speaker) in the ear canal
- Great for mild to moderately-severe hearing loss
- Smaller than standard BTE models and worn comfortably behind the ear
- Less visible and provides the most natural sound, making your own voice sound better to you
Full-Shell (ITE)
Easy to Handle
A full-shell In-the-Ear aid is custom-built to fit the outer ear, offering powerful amplification and easy handling for those who prefer a one-piece design.
- Circuitry is built within a custom-made shell
- Fills most or all of the concha of the ear
- Usually suitable for mild to severe-profound hearing losses
- Some circuits may be able to accommodate direct audio input (DAI)
Half-Shell (ITE)
Discreet ITE
A half-shell In-the-Ear aid offers a more discreet profile than the full-shell while keeping a comfortable one-piece custom fit.
- Circuitry is built within a custom-made shell
- Fills about half of the concha of the ear
- Usually suitable for mild to severe-profound hearing losses
- Some circuits may be able to accommodate direct audio input (DAI)
In-the-Canal (ITC) and Mini-Canal (MC)
Smaller Custom
ITC and Mini-Canal aids sit further inside the ear canal than ITE styles for a smaller, less visible profile while keeping a custom-molded fit.
- Circuitry is built inside a custom-made shell
- Fits further into the ear canal than ITE instruments
- Smaller and less visible than ITE instruments
- Most appropriate for mild to moderate-severe hearing losses
Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC)
Nearly Invisible
CIC aids are among the smallest custom hearing devices available, tucked deep in the ear canal for a near-invisible look.
- One of the smallest custom hearing aids available
- Usually suitable for mild to moderate hearing losses
- Can be used for some conductive hearing losses
- Usually equipped with a small plastic retrieval line for removal
Lyric
100% Invisible
Lyric is an extended-wear hearing aid placed deep in the ear canal by your Audiologist &/or Hearing Instrument Specialist and worn 24/7 for months at a time — the closest device to the ear drum for the most natural sound.
- Smallest disposable hearing aid
- Usually suitable for mild to moderate hearing losses
- Closest to the ear drum, providing very natural sound quality
- Most cosmetically appealing — 100% invisible
- Available with a yearly renewable subscription
